Jenny Greener - Convenor
I too have been a member of DPHSA since the earliest days, and I was the first Secretary. I remained in position for several years, then My husband was offered a job in China, and I experienced first-hand the difficulties with finding a placement for a disabled family member. At the time, I was part way through doing my PhD, but of course I had to drop everything to accompany my husband.
During my stay in china I did and saw many interesting things, but I remained in touch with the DPHSA to find out how things were developing. When I returned, Tony intimated that he would like a break, and I had no hesitation in accepting the responsibilities of Convenor when I was proposed at the AGM in 2007. I know it would be a lot of work, and Tony was a hard act to follow, but he is still there and I know I can call on him anytime I need a little help - that is one of the advantages of the DPHSA being such a close knit organisation, almost like a family.
I have now been offered the chance of doing a PhD again, and I am starting early in 2008. It will be hard work but one should always chase ones dream.
